Week 10

This week is the week for saying good bye and gratitude for the learning and sharing. This week shows me a clearer application of technology enhanced language learning. I wish the last two readings were introduced earlier. Both guided me better in designing how to implement those technologies I learned all the 9 week process. 

Delicious, Nicenet, Blog, Interactive Power Point, Padlet, Hot Potatoes, Webquest, Wiki, rubrics, and other things I learned from this course are great. I have tried all but I didn't really explore one; the Webquest. I have not really used and designed it well and still  struggling to spend more time in completing it. Yet, silly of me, I cannot find the first webquest that I worked on so I have to start it over again and I might have fully forgotten the steps. I then realise, I have to keep on using all that I learned in this course. Otherwise, I will regret it that I will not remember how to work with it. By that time, Sean and other groupmates might not be available to help anymore. I will have to work harder to browse for solution.

I really regret that I have not really spent time to explore more about it and I also missed the mobile learning session with other instructor that Sean introduced on Week 7. I regret it so much for not being able to manage my participation on this very recent technology use in language learning.



As I always say and still find it that way that it is a big issue for me teaching ESP in my teaching context; lowering the ESP level in order to motivate students to learn and utilizing technologies. I am still on my assumption that teaching them General English in vocational college level does not suit the institution's needs. Yet, ESP is not that effective either due to the fact that there is no real contact with the English either neither in their daily activities at school nor in their future workplace. In sequence to this, the online and offline technology use to accelerate the English acquisition is still not that promising for me to do in most of my classes.  However, as Sean mentions on his email this week, I may not give up in utilizing the technology I learned from this course.

This course has enable me to learn but sometimes it makes me study in order to explore more at discussion on the Nicenet. I understand that in order to be competent in using these technologies, I need more time and practices. It needs time and practice as well as further introduction of these technologies to the students and colleagues. I will keep updating myself in teaching and sharing with students and colleagues.

I was given a great opportunity of learning and I am very thankful. Not only thankful for the grant provided by the RELO and US Embassy, but also to the University of Oregon staff, especially Mr. Sean MacClelland for guiding me all over the 10 week course and all groupmates for the discussion, suggestion, input and support. I do thankful for being among these great teachers from all over the world.

I wish to keep in touch with all of them to share and develop better way of teaching in learning. When it is possible, developing friendship outside of the professional teaching context would be a great way for cross cultural understanding among all participants.
