Week 9 Reflection

Getting so close to the end of the course is making me more nervous about it. Yet, I am glad that I have managed to complete my reading and posted on discussion. I am always impressed by Lupita and Foli. Lupita always has so many things to discus thoroughly and Foli always writes very clear. I wish that I can be like both of them. Great learners and great teachers.

About my assignment for this week... I am glad that there isn't so many to do for this week and I only need to focus on my final draft. The submission date is getting so close.

I always have question on my mind about how should I satisfy my students' needs for learning. I still cannot find the effective way to enable them to learn effectively based on their types of intelligences. From all the links provided, I mostly see that they are suggesting different types of teaching for different types of intelligence. I still cannot find something that work well for varied intelligences for big classes. The worse thing is that I could not access some links that I wanted to explore more.  So, classical issue appears; technology cannot really helps when the facilities is not that supportive for the learning so that teachers need to convert to the traditional way of learning by using outdated technologies.

At last, I can manage to complete my final report on the project plan which might be accessible on https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYXVsdGRvbWFpbnxzZWFuc3dlYnNraWxsc3dpa2l3aW50ZXIyMDEzfGd4OmYwMmY5Nzg1MjY1Yjk4MQ.      It was not good report and I know that I could not do better than that on this situation. However, I am happy that at last I am a step ahead than other colleagues in my department. I would love to share with them the learning and introduce them to the delicious, nicenet, blog, rubristar, padlet, webquest, and all web_based learning that the course has introduced to me during this 9 weeks learning.

A step to the last part...

  1. Dear Baetty,

I am happy that you have successfully managed to come to this stage of the course and I congratulate you on this. You seem to be a busy person, so this is a great achievement for you. I want to wish you here so you would never give up on anything just like you have done here! :) I am sure you will definitely reach the final stage of the course and will be really happy with your achievements! :)

You have said that you still haven't found out the effective ways to enable your students to learn successfully. Maybe you just need some more time, maybe you just need to give it a try to a wider range of activities! Don't stop looking for this and never hesitate to try out something new! Only by doing this we can come up with certain tools or activites that work best with our target audience. We always need to have a bigger number of tasks that are designed in such a way so that learners with different learnign styles would find something for themselves, something that would make their learning process effective, pleasant and enjoyable! :) I am sure this is actually not so difficult to do and we just need a bit more of creativity and less of prejudice! :)

    Best wishes,

    Jurga.

  2. Dear Jurga,

Again and again, I would like to thank you for visiting and encouraging me not to give up. I feel like I am having real classmate and friend here. I appreciate your suggestion. Hope you will have time to read my in-hurry- final report. I still expect to improve them for my real class in the future. I really cannot concentrate on this course and did not really study well.

    :)

  3. Dear Baetty,

I understand what you mean when you say that you become more nervous as the course comes to the end. I had problems with time management, I was seriously ill during one part of it (mid course) and I managed to get back in track somehow... As the course finishes, I have a sense of achievement, don't you?

As for different learning styles, I believe that pair work or group work and project based learning might help. The tasks could be designed to offer some learning possibilities foe each group member. Some can read and reflect, some can express the group findings, some can browse the technology and come up with solutions to problems, some can be creative and create websites or else... The tricky part is how to form groups, though...

    Best,
    Milena
